Busyness and Growing Up

February is over.  My goodness, how time flies!  Although I feel like I haven't really done anything this month, I feel like I've been super busy and not busy at the same time, really weird!  Being stuck in the house gets to me some days, although the days seem to go quickly it'll be nice when it warms up so we can go outside a bit more regularly.  I have been making it to coffee break thanks to my awesome friend, Janelle, which is a super nice break!  And this week we also went to story hour at the library--I think Anneke liked it, she just kept looking around and taking it all in!

Dave has been SUPER busy this month.  He had a 3-day class trip and report cards all within the same week, so Anneke and I spent some time at Grandma and Grandpa's!  But now that's all done and March Break is on the horizon.  He's still trying to get days with the public school board, which is proving to be quite challenging in terms of planning and then getting calls for the days he's planned for.....but we'll keep at it and hopefully have them all by the end of the year!  He is enjoying his teaching job, though, which is great!  It is fun to have your own class and to see the rewards and follow through with the kids every day.  And they all seem to like him (and me because I made them cupcakes for Valentine's day!  Men:  Dave didn't plan to do anything for them--or me for that matter!)

And Anneke is growing and learning new things like crazy!  She turned 5 months yesterday and it's amazing to see what they can do from one month to the next.  This month she's become more coordinated with grabbing the things she wants and getting them into her mouth.  She loves faces and grabbing onto people's faces--and when she does she'll talk and coo to you, it's so cute!  She absolutely loves the jolly jumper and the exersaucer!  It's a whole new world!  And yesterday she started rolling onto her tummy--she did it once yesterday and tons of times today!  It'll be great when she learns to reverse it so that I don't have to go rescue her when she gets sick of her stomach!  But I guess this means no more leaving her places she could roll off of!  We love her so much and can't believe how much she's changed since she was born--amazing!

February Pictures

It looks like it's time for an update....but I don't really have anything excited to say, so enjoy the pictures!

 "I LOVE it in the bathtub!  Hey, wait a minute Daddy, why are you taking pictures of me in the bath?"

 "And I also LOVE my Jolly Jumper!"  Dave moved her playmat under her feet so that she could play with the giraffe and palm tree--she had lots of fun talking to them and trying to put them in her mouth!

We went to visit Kurt and Nicole and their new baby, River, the other night and they suggested that we borrow their Jolly Jumper.  So we tried it out today.  I think she likes it!

"Talking" and Gurgling

So Anneke has been "talking" and shrieking for a bit, but this is her latest version.  She mixes in some gurgling with the shrieking.  It's kind of difficult to hear the gurgling....but yesterday she did this multiple times during the day for about 15 minutes each time!  Silly girl!  Enjoy!

Four Months Old!

I'm four months old today!  Mommy and Daddy can't believe it!  I'm growing so fast and learning so many new things!  At my doctors appointment last Friday the doctor measured me and I'm 65 cm (25.59 inches for those of you who are old-school!) and I weigh 15 lbs (I've doubled my birth weight!).  At that appointment I also got my 4-month shots, for which I hardly even cried, and I peed all over mommy (which gave mommy flashbacks to being like 5 years old....mommy wasn't so impressed, but what could she do?!)  This month I've started to roll over--I still only get halfway--, I've started sitting up in my bumbo and my exersaucer, I've started grabbing things that are hanging over me and fingers, I'm paying much more attention to what and who is around me (so much so, that I don't like it when mommy leaves and I made her come back from book club last week after only being there for 5 minutes.....), I like to talk and squeal, I like to put my fingers and anything else I can hold in my mouth, I like to listen daddy and mommy sing to me (and the music machine!), and I think I've finally figured out some kind of a napping schedule (which mommy likes!).  Here are some pictures for you all to enjoy!

I can spin 180 degrees!  Mommy puts me down lying in one direction and before she knows it,

My New Trick

Look at my new trick!  I've learned to roll halfway over!  Then I get stuck and cry until someone comes and rescues me.  (Not so impressive for mommy....)

Reading

We got Anneke a new "soft" book this weekend and I think she likes it!

I tried to post a video, but it didn't work.....it was taking forever to upload and then never completed.  Anyone have any suggestions?
