Fun with Cousins!

This past weekend Martin, Emily and the girls came down to Barrie!  Unfortunately Martin had to travel to Toronto every day for a course and the weather wasn't the greatest, but we had tons of fun with the girls and were glad they could come to visit.   Despite the fact that naps never seemed to coordinate well, we managed to make it to 3 different parks and the mall.  Highlights from the weekend include playing on the swings, slides, and having 3 girls in the bath!  Anneke had a great time with her cousins!  Maria did a great job of playing with Anneke and bringing her toys.  Nicole played with her a bit, but was more interested in offering Anneke toys and then pulling them away!  And Anneke's favourite moment was having a bath with her cousins.  They're very calm in the tub and she kept splashing them--they kept looking at her like she was crazy!  And she cried whenever they had a bath toy that she wanted--I think she's going to be quite opinionated!  Enjoy some pictures from our great weekend!

Beating the Heat

We've been trying to stay cool the last couple days, which has mainly involved chillaxin' in the AC and going out for short walks and playing in the swing.  But here's a few pics:

 Reading about baby animals  (note for the observant viewers:  it's not upside-down this time!  We're progressing!  Nevermind that the picture I took just before this one was upside-down!)

 Playing on the floor and trying to manouver around to see Mommy at the computer.  This coffee table gets in the way a lot!

Trying out the sippy cup for the second time and today she's actually having some success!  Her shirt is also soaked....but, meh!

Weekend

Nothing really exciting going on here these days, hence no exciting updates lately.  Dave's knee-deep in report cards (or at least he should be.....) and I'm in the last few weeks of my course, which has been fairly intensive.  Anneke is just chillin' out!  She loves rolling around on the floor with her toys and going for walks with mommy when this weather sorts itself out!  She's been getting on all fours and rocking back and forth for the last couple weeks so I don't think it'll be long before she's crawling!

On the weekend, Mom and Dad V and Nathaniel and Rachel came for a visit.  After the rain stopped, the boys got some yard work done--building a retaining wall and then got a couple loads of dirt to level off the lawn.  Looks great!  Thanks for all your help everyone!  And thanks, Rach for some of these cute pictures!

Beautiful Long Weekend

This past weekend we went to Mom and Dad Geertsema's (a.k.a. Oma and Opa's).  We had a great time celebrating Mom's birthday, spending time with Stevin, Katrina, and the girls, and spending lots of time outside.  On Sunday after church, Mom did a little photoshoot with Anneke and got some super-cute photos!  Thanks Mom, I love them and can't wait to print some of them off!!!  So here's some pictures from our weekend.

Gardening

Well, I finally managed to get into my garden last week.  It took a bit of coordination--juggling the rain, my course, and Anneke's schedule--but the gardens are cleaned out and hopefully will get planted this week.  Anyways, thought I'd share a picture of Anneke's "outdoor confinement".  She loved it in there and I got my weeds pulled--great for both of us!

Look What I've Learned!

On Saturday, I suddenly decided that I could sit up by myself!  It's great, now I can see what's going on and play with my toys!

I have also started to roll all over the place.  It's also very fun because if I see something I want I try and get to it, it may take me a while but I'll get there!  Mommy's not so sure about this skill because now I can pull things off all the bottom shelves..... :)
