Some books that we've been reading lately, and that we can recommend, include:
The ACSM Fitness Book, third edition - an excellent book about fitness, nutrition, and how to go about it all (like getting motivated, what to do, how to do it). This book is NOT a "fad diet" book - like the Atkins diet, or South Beach, or any weird thing like that. This ACSM book tells you the truth.
Children's Literature:
We've been reading Madeliene L'engle's Time series. The first two books were weird. The last three have been good so far! What we really like is her perspective on the world - That God is working ALL things to His purpose. - A message that we can All trust in.
We've also recommended a book called "the Thief" by Megan Whalen Turner before. This turned out to be a GREAT series that I thoroughly enjoyed, and so did Steph. But we'd really say that this is more for the discerning person, and not necessarily a child. The stories have an element of greek mythology to them that children should be told is not truth, but fiction. Also a few, very far in between, mild cuss words, which we didn't think had to be said. So be careful with these books, but definitely a GOOD read.
And, a book that I've seen around, but haven't read, but really want to get a hold of, is "The Dangerous Book for Boys" or something like that... It includes all kinds of how-to stuff (like how to make the perfect paper airplane, or treefort), with other important information for boys. This book looks promising.
